Try the ideas

Small, self-contained demonstrations. Inspect the assumptions before treating an output as evidence.

Read the entity, then the numbers.

Start with BlackRock or Blackstone, then compare assets and clients for the exact registered advisers. The same question behind my Form ADV essay: what sits beneath a familiar firm name?

Official Form ADV snapshots, checked October 14, 2026. Figures cover each named legal adviser and its filing perimeter, not the parent group's assets. Item 5.F reports regulatory AUM; Item 5.D reports client types. Fee schedules require separate Part 2 review and remain unverified. No 13F holdings are loaded.

What does diversification change?

Three illustrative sleeves. Drag an allocation to rebalance the other two proportionally.

Annual volatility (%)Return (%)
Assumptions and calculation

Illustrative annual returns: 6.5%, 9%, 6%. Volatility: 10%, 18%, 12%. Pairwise correlations: 0.65, 0.40, 0.50. Risk-free rate: 3%. The first sleeve already contains 60% public stocks and 40% bonds. Its preset allocates the entire portfolio to that sleeve. Private Credit Heavy is a blended sleeve proxy, not a separately modeled credit asset.

Variance is wᵀΣw; Sharpe is (return minus risk-free rate) divided by volatility. Correlation is the allocation-weighted average between distinct sleeves, undefined for one sleeve. The curve is the non-dominated feasible envelope on a 2% long-only grid. Drawdown proxy is max(0, 2 × volatility minus return), not an estimated historical maximum or a forecast. These are assumptions for learning, not market observations or investment advice.
